Although the new government led by prime minister Modi had scrapped the Planning Commission on August 13, 2014, and NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) was formed in Feb. 2015 to replace the former Planning Commission, but India to be one of the large developing country with a long history of Five Year Planning, its experience of mid-term planning is worthwhile to be described compared to the indicative planning experience of France, a developed country. Two documents of Indian Five Year Planning will be briefed below for study and comparative purpose, Sixth Five Year Plan (1980–1985) and Twelfth Five Year Plan (2012–2017) of India.
